9th Community Service Day 2016 is still going on!
Presented by Volunteer Alexandria in partnership with the City of Alexandria
Already hundreds of businesses and individual volunteers gave back to their community by building a vegetable garden and horseshoe game, transforming cafeterias, stairways, and common areas of low-income apartment buildings and shelters, sorting books, weeding and mulching tree and flower beds, and much more. Hundreds more will pitch in on May 20 and by June 13, more than 2,400 hours of community service were performed, valued at $60,000 to assist our community. We couldn't have done it without the volunteers raising $10,000 and without our wonderful donors and sponsors. "We had an AMAZING DAY! Awesome results." Lorraine Friedman, DreamDog Foundation.“Clients and staff at Mill Road are Thrilled! The HOAR group was so nice and all the hard work turned that outdoor space into something much more inviting and healing. Thank you so much to the team for your kindness and hard work!” Susan Tatum, Clinical and Emergency Services, City of Alexandria. Click HERE for more details.

Join us in our efforts to help our community to take care of our elderly and homebound residents, children and families in need, immigrants, residents with intellectual disabilities, women in domestic violence situations, animals in need of a home, parks, arts, and history. Get involved by creating your volunteer profile here and then searching for opportunities that fit your schedule, interests, and skills here.
Volunteer Alexandria is in the business of helping Alexandrians give back to this City with their whole heart, through volunteering. We are matchmakers providing connections between volunteers and nonprofits or City agencies needing assistance the most.
