Colin Powell PosterSeniors are a vibrant part of Alexandria. There are many ways for residents 55+ to be involved in the community—and many ways to assist people 55+. Become a RSVP volunteer, attend a monthly Speaker Series event, or be a volunteer in your community.

RSVP: Your Invitation to Serve - Make an Impact Close to Home
RSVP-Northern Virginia is a local partnership sponsored by Volunteer Alexandria, Volunteer Fairfax, and Volunteer Arlington It is a regional volunteer program providing individualized support to connect adults 55+ with service opportunities that impact local needs and result in healthy and vibrant communities. Simply attend a one-time, one-hour RSVP Orientation, complete our online Volunteer Information Form, and RSVP will match you with an activity that is right for you. Individuals choose how, where, and how often they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 hours per week.

RSVP is America’s largest volunteer network for people age 55 and older and is a program of the
Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). The next orientation to learn more about the program are:

Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA) Speaker Series
SSA provides a monthly Speaker Series, which offers topics of interests to seniors, including legal issues, financial literacy, health-care education, retirement planning and more. SSA works to ensure that each session has local experts on the topic of discussion and provides the most up-to-date, accurate information for seniors, their family members and caregivers. Next Senior Speaker Series event:
Register now to be a part of Alexandria’s future by participating in the Community Forum: ALEXANDRIA - A LIVABLE COMMUNITY FOR SENIORS. Come to Beatley Library at 5005 Duke Street on Wednesday, June 21 from 10am-noon to talk with representatives of Alexandria’s Commission on Aging about the latest progress in making Alexandria a livable community for seniors.   We also want to hear from YOU about what’s important as a senior so you can remain active and independent.
